After entering the correct username and password, the customer will be granted access and their DHCP address: We will be able to see that the customer is active, and the "R" means that the customer was authenticated via the Radius server. In this example the username is alex-pppoe and is the password, the customer will receive a permanent IP address after successful authentication.

Even if other Radius authentication methods will be chosen in Splynx router settings, it will still allow Radius hotspot authentication. The router should be added to Splynx and the Radius Hotspot authentication needs to be enabled. The first steps in the configuration for Hotspot Radius authentication are the same as for other types of Radius authentication. I'll probably get around to adding it into a much larger AAA guide for local and wireless, but in the meantime you can "purchase" the PDF for $0.00. So instead of just sitting on a less than 20 page PDF I'm putting it up on my site for $0. Since I write most of my material in LaTeX I have a perfectly good PDF, even if there's not enough there to actually charge money for. The guide itself makes me happy but as it turns out there just isn't a lot of material needed for local account AAA.

I'm on the road for a training engagement and had some time to kill so I put together a MikroTik solution guide for local account AAA with FreeRADIUS.
